Last three classess (5,6& 7)

In the last three classes we have learnt so many things. We were accustomed to different sites and internet tools like COCA, freerice, podomatic, edmodo, songs for teaching, adult learning activities, AWL etc. These are the wonderful sites which are really interesting and helpful for teaching and learning. We are getting thirsty day by day for learning new and new things/ ideas/ tools from this course. I would like to share my experience while recording my voice in audacity. I have recorded my voice in audacity but I was unable to divert it in mp3 so I became bit nervous. Then I explored youtube and my problems be solved. Now when I listen to my voice and I feel that I did it. It’s really a different feeling. The last class was another important session for us. We have registered in edmodo and learnt how to prepare quizzes (MCQ, True/ False etc.). Though we are under pressure of doing several assignments and tasks but we are enjoying the classes (TSL-506) very much and we are grateful to our teacher for such nice classes.

Review of two particular websites

John’s ESL Community English Interactive
(http://www.johnsesl.com/about.shtml)

John's ESL Community has so many activities for students of English. There are games, puzzles, self-study quizzes and much more, all designed to help students improve their English skills. Besides John's ESL Community Site Builder, there are many resources available for teachers including free downloadable class materials. Additional activities and materials are added almost daily. This service enables ESL/EFL teachers from around the globe to create a class web site complete with ready made activities, all without the need to know HTML or any other programming language. In this site Language exercises and tests are available to anyone who has access to the Web. This accessibility makes Web-based language learning activities quite attractive to both instructors and learners. Moreover, "John's ESL/EFL Resources"13 has several listening comprehension exercises created with RealAudio and JavaScript. Students first predict answers to questions about a subject by completing a multiple-choice JavaScript form. They then listen to an audio piece and check their work. For learning language and practicing language, the site is very suitable for learners.

Adult Learning Activities California Distance Learning Project

Learning is defined as "the act, process, or experience of gaining knowledge or skill." Learning is the preferred term rather than education that is generally defined as the knowledge or skill obtained or developed by the learning process. This online (http://www.cdlponline.org/) document presents an overview of distance learning as it applies to adult basic education. It is designed for administrators, teachers, and resource persons seeking general or specific information on the history, state of the art, and practical resources and so on. The site is very useful for learning language and practicing language.

There are two distance education delivery system here one is synchronous and another is asynchronous. Synchronous instruction requires the simultaneous participation of all students and instructors. The advantage of synchronous instruction is that interaction is done in "real time" and has immediacy. Examples include interactive telecourses, teleconferencing and web conferencing, and Internet chats.
Asynchronous instruction does not require the simultaneous participation of all students and instructors. Students do not need to be gathered together in the same location at the same time. Rather, students may choose their own instructional time frame and interact with the learning materials and instructor according to their schedules. Asynchronous instruction is more flexible than synchronous instruction. One disadvantage is that self paced instruction places a substantial burden on the student to maintain interest, focus, and pace. This motivation can be difficult to sustain.

4th class reflection

On the 5th of June /2015 I had attended my 4th class in the running semester. In that particular class we have learnt about different sites (like .com, .org, .mil etc.) to search. Moreover, we have learnt the easiest way to search something (like Google scholar for specific Article, Google groups, you tube- time duration etc.). Finally the teacher played a music which was really nice and we enjoyed the song with lyrics. This is how a real teacher creates an environment to get the full concentration from the students and make the class friendly and interesting. Finally we have learnt about hot potatoes and practiced for creating some materials. Every class has new dimensions. We are very much excited for the next classes.
